The Science Behind Luma Banding
In all Commodore 64 models, the clock lines and multiplexed data lines run extremely close to the luminance output lines directly inside and around the VIC-II (6567/6569) video controller chip. This design creates unwanted parasitic coupling, visible as heavy background vertical checkerboard/stripe banding. The LumaFix addresses this anomaly by capturing the raw AEC (Address Enable Control) signal and inverting it slightly to neutralize and cancel the offending noise frequencies on the final composite or S-Video output.
Highly Tunable To Your Hardware Revisions
No two original MOS VIC-II chips behave exactly the same way. The LumaFix features user-adjustable multi-turn trimmer pots that allow you to tune the attenuation until the stripes are completely balanced out.
